Support - Dial-Up Configuration (Macintosh OS 8 & 9)

• MacOS 7 or higher 

• ConfigPPP 

• MacTCP 

• Min of 8 megs

• 3 megabytes of hard disk space

• A 14.4 baud or faster internal or external modem

Double-click on the ConfigPPP icon in the control panels folder to start customized settings for Extreme Internet
Click on the Config buttonPPP
Server Name: extremezone.com
Port speed should be 57600 for 28.8 modems, and 19200 for 14.4 modems
Flow control is CTS & RTS (DRT)
Tone dial checked
Phone number: 480-368-4621
Modem init isn't usually needed, but always try ATZ first if having problems
Modem connect timeout is 90 seconds

Setting up Authentication
Click on Authentication
Enter your username in the Auth.ID field (be sure you put a capital "P" in front of your username)
Enter your password
Click OK

Setting up IPCP Options
Click on IPCP Options
In the lower left hand portion of IPCP Window, click on Default Settings
Click OK.

Checking Connect Script
Click on Connect Script
Make sure that there isn't a script in this window
All "out boxes" should be checked and timeout should be 40 secounds
Click OK

Checking LCP Options
Click on LCP Options
In the lower left hand portion of LCP Window, click on Default Settings
Click OK.
You are done configuring the ConfigPPP, go to the next section.

Configuring the MacTCP
Double-click on MacTCP in the control panels folder
Highlight PPP and click on More
Optain Address, should be "Server"
Routing Information "Gateway Address" should be as follows:
208.145.184.1

Note: To change the Gateway information for your area, click on Manually under "Obtain Address". This will allow you to make changes. Once completed, you will need to change it back to "server".

IP Address
Should be Class "C"
This should be the only entry you will make under IP Address.

Domain Server Information

***Please note: The second entry under Domain name has a period only. Please refer to above screen shot.
Click OK
NOTE: You Must! restart the computer, in order for the changes to take affect.

To Connect to Extreme Internet
Go to the Control Panel
Double-click on the ConfigPPP
Click on the Open button and you're on your way to surfing the World Wide Web!
