Support - Outlook Express 5 (Windows)

Follow these instructions to configure Microsoft Outlook Express 5 to receive e-mail from your Extreme Internet account:

Setting up a Mail Account

Click on Tools and choose Accounts.

Click on the Add button. Then click on the Mail option. This will start the Internet Connection wizard to set up your new email account.

Type your full name in the the text box and then click Next.

Type your email address into the text box in the form:

username@extremezone.com, this must all be in lower case.

Click Next.

In the Incoming mail (POP3…) field type mailhost.extremezone.com
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP)… field type mailhost.extremezone.com
Then click Next.

In the Account Name field type your Extreme Internet username (Account Name).
In the Password field type your logon or POP3 password (if you have one).

If you do not wish to type in your password every time you check your mail, click in the box to Remember password.

You have now completed setting up your email account.
Click Finish.

Click on Close.

At this point, if you are not using a domain name, you can click Close and test your new account by clicking Send and Receive.

If you have registered a domain name, make sure the Extreme Internet account is highlighted and click Properties.

In the Reply address box type your domain name, click OK, then click Close.


Outlook is now configured to receive e-mail from your Extreme Internet account.  If you have a dedicated or DSL connection, you will automatically retrieve your e-mail from the Extreme Internet mail server when you launch Outlook.  If you have a dial-up connection, you will have to connect to the Internet first, then launch Outlook and receive your e-mail.
